Healthcare in The Gambia

The long term aim of Horizons is to improve healthcare systems in The Gambia through the development of a high quality healthcare infrastructure which is affordable to all Gambians.
Over the next few years Horizons will focus on three main goals:
- Establishing the Horizons Clinic: a high quality international standard private hospital, which generates sufficient revenue to be financially self-sustainable in the long-term.
- Working in collaboration with other providers of healthcare in increase the capacity and standard of healthcare in The Gambia through provision of outreach healthcare services and the development of a training programme for outreach clinic staff and other healthcare professionals in The Gambia.
- Reducing maternal and infant mortality through: outreach services for mother/pregnant women and infants under two years old; training for midwives; effective triage for referral; and health system strengthening in The Gambia.
